WOODSBORO, MD — Democratic Congressional candidate Andrew Duck called Republican Roscoe Bartlett's vote upholding President Bush's veto of SCHIP, the bipartisan child health insurance program, "callous, political and just plain wrong."
"Congressman Bartlett has voted again in favor of the political interests of President Bush, against the clear wishes of the people of the 6th District, and above the health of millions of kids in working- and middle-class families," Duck said.
The bill would have extended health insurance to six million children. Though the bill passed the House 265-159, President Bush vetoed it, and the House failed to override his veto.
"With this vote, Roscoe Bartlett has shown again that he refuses to represent our values. Next November, the voters will have the opportunity to send him to a well-deserved retirement, with his government-paid health care," Duck said.
