DUCK CAMPAIGN ASKS FOR HELP FOR
TROOPS TO PHONE HOME

Andrew Duck Campaign Won’t Wait For Election to Help Service Men & Women Stationed Abroad

(Frederick, MD)  Today, Andrew Duck, Democratic Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 6th District, announced his campaign’s involvement in the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program.  The program accepts used cell phones, accessories, chargers, batteries, Blackberry PDA's and pagers, which are recycled, with the proceeds going to buy pre-paid phone cards in a soldier’s name. Under current policy, soldiers have to pay for long distance phone calls out of their own pocket.

“As a twenty year veteran, I spent a lot of that time away from my wife and three children, serving all over the world, most recently in Iraq,” Duck explained.  “Being separated, especially during times of war, can be very stressful for families.  The ability to call home provides the vital support military families need.”

The phone cards can be used in most locations and are easily rechargeable in various increments at a discounted rate. The Duck Campaign is sponsoring this innovative program in Frederick and hopes to expand it throughout Maryland’s 6th district with the help of volunteers.

If you would like to finally get rid of those old cell phones, etc. (any condition, make or model accepted) in a responsible way for a good cause, please drop them off at the Andrew Duck for Congress Campaign Headquarters located at 120 West Church Street, Suite F in downtown Frederick. (Call Duck Headquarters at 301-696-1881 for drop off times) For more information, please visit http://duckforcongress.org/troops or www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.
